    Description

For sale is my 1967-68 Epiphone Howard Roberts Custom Guitar.  The Custom is a 25.5 inch scale version of the guitar.  I bought this used from George Gruhn in Nashville in 1975 and have had it since.  It is a great guitar and in excellent playing shape although there are a few dings and scratches which I have tried to show in the pictures.
Like all Howard Roberts guitars of this vintage the pickguard disintegrated sometime in the 80s due to a material that Epiphone / Gibson used.  This also caused corrosion on the original pickup.  I have included the original pickguard and pickup if you're interested in any restoration.  What I did was have a beautiful pickguard made with a floating Kent Armstrong pickup.
Other than the pickguard / pickup work, I also had a fret job done in the late 80s and everything else is original. it comes with a nice gig bag soft case. My understanding based on the serial number (895843) is that it was made in the Gibson Kalamazoo factory around 1967/1968. The tailpiece has the original owners initials on it. I never changed it, you can easily remove it if you like.
