$ 1583.99

Availability: 75 in stock
  • Exact Year: 1996
  • Model: Jag-Stang
  • Brand: Fender
  • All returns accepted: ReturnsNotAccepted
  • Body Type: Solid
  • Country/Region of Manufacture: Japan
  • String Configuration: 6 String
  • Color: Sonic Blue
  • Condition: Instrument is in excellent condition, in our opinion, in fact, near mint condition. Our luthier gave this a full pro set-up, including polishing the fretboard. He adjusted the neck and action and set the intonation. The whammy bar has a cracked tip but it still works as intended, it just does not stay fully connected at all times which seems to be a very common design flaw in these guitars.  Cosmetically, the pickguard finish is slightly peeling at the corners, which is common with this guitar due to how the plastics in the guard were laminated. These are the only 2 very minor flaws that are keeping us from grading this instrument as “near mint” or even “mint condition”! This puppy was purchased by the previous owner, played a few times, polished & put back into her case. This is essentially as close to a new 1996 Fender Jag-Stang as you can find on the market.
  • Dexterity: Right-Handed

Here it is, the 1995-1996 Sonic Blue Fender Jag-Stang as designed by Kurt Cobain. This particular guitar was manufactured in 1996 at the Fuji Gen plant in Japan. This guitar is super clean, actually near mint, and includes the "Fender 50th Anniversary" and "Designed by Kurt Cobain" stickers on the back of the oversized 1960s-style jumbo head stock.

There are two switches that control the vintage-style single coil neck pickup and humbucker bridge pickup along with a master volume and a master tone control. The pickup switches can turn the pickups on/off and also phase in/out for a variety of tonal options. The guitar also features the Dynamic Fender Vibrato (floating tremolo) with a whammy bar and original pearloid, or "mother of toilet seat" pickguard. This guitar also comes with the original Fender case.

    CONDITION:
Instrument is in excellent condition, in our opinion, in fact, near mint condition.
Our luthier did not see a point in attempting to repair this issue with the de-lamination of the guard, since it does not affect playability at all. Please see the attached photos for specific condition.

**SPECIAL NOTE: It is with a very heavy heart that we wish to share the news of the recent passing on
Dec 6, 2020, of our almost 12 year old red & white beagle, our beloved Ace. He was our mascot and namesake of this shop on Reverb.com. He gave us the initial inspiration to sign up with Reverb.com, primarily due to the name that we chose to use on this fantastic website. He was also the chief of security & official greeter for our bricks & mortar shop, always ready to engage with the customers; tail wagging, always happy & forever on the lookout for any ingestible treats that our customers wished to share with him as well as a nice butt or belly rub.
Ace is, and will continue to be, very sorely missed by all who knew him. Our shop will never be the same without his presence. But, his intense spirit and joie de vivre lives on, through our loving memories of him and also via this wonderful platform online. Love the heck out of ya, Acie!!
    Sadly, Ellis

    TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BUYERS:
If you are contemplating making us an offer on this or any of our other varied listings, please be fully prepared to follow through, pay for your item and consummate the deal if your offer is accepted by us. We have been hit hard lately by offers from buyers with little or even zero feedback or inexperience on this selling platform. These buyers never paid for their purchases.  Obviously, we would rather this never happen again, but sometimes it will occur no matter what our wishes are. Thank you for reading this far and for your patience and understanding as well. And, in the immortal lyrics from an early Steve Miller Band tune, “You gotta keep on, keepin on”!
