ARS folding saw
has been used around the house for pruning, limbing, and trimming, but it would serve similar purposes in camp or when backpacking. Blade is made of steel, the red handle is some composite plastic.
Saw is clean, and its blade is bright and shiny, however the red plastic handle has acquired an oily stain on one side near the hinge end, the teeth have bit into the handle at the opposite end, and there is some spot rusting to the locking clip and metal on the underside of the hinge (see photos). The screw on the hinge pivot may be loosened or tightened as needed. Blade locks in open position with a clip at the hinge end. Overall length is 7 5/8 inches, width (when closed) is a maximum of 2", weight is 5 ounces (136 grams).
Note that the blade of this saw cuts on the pull stroke only, as you draw it back toward you, and that this is by design.
In fact, one can push the blade gently
forward
over a finger without cutting into it, but you do NOT want to do that on the pull stroke!!
Please see my photographs, as they complete the description of this saw and show it in use. To be shipped by trackable USPS first class mail.
