  • Time Period Manufactured: Vintage (Pre-1968)
  • Country/Region of Manufacture: Japan
  • Condition: Excellent to near mint. The toy has very minor wear. It is unplayed with. The toy has a clean battery box although one terminal is missing or broken off. I put 2 D batteries in and the toy works, that is Donald Duck goes up or down the ladder depending on which way you move the switch. The toy also has a friction motor which allows the siren to sound when the truck is moved by hand. Mickey's ears are nice and original. The box is complete but has some ripping along the top along the seam. The rip extends out toward the middle of the lid. There is a water stain on the bottom plain cardboard which extends around one end of the box, affecting the bottom back end of one side of the box and the two sides of the box at the end of the box. I would rate the box good overall, getting making a 5 or 6 on a 1 to 10 scale, in my opinion. See the photos.

    Description

This is a rare Climbing Donald Duck on His Friction Fire Engine 18 inch long tin toy made by Linemar of Japan(Marx in Japan) between 1955 and 1962. The toy measures 28 inch high to the top of the ladder.  It is in all original excellent to near mint and working condition.  The box is in good condition.  Donald Duck climbs up and down the ladder with the power of two D batteries.  The toy operates both by battery, which powers Donald, and by friction motor, which moves the truck and sounds the siren. This is a very scarce toy, especially in this condition.
