ust in, one of the coolest guitars ever made, a Les Paul Custom from 1981!
1981 is a great year for Les Paul Customs with Gibson opting to make the switch back to one piece bodies a couple of years prior but still retaining the three piece maple neck which would also return to mahogany the following year.  Many believe it's the maple neck/ebony fretboard combination which give this era of Customs their unique tone, much loved by hard rock and metal players with Zakk Wylde, John Sykes and Buzz Osbourne amongst them.
This particular example is in fully functional, players condition. Our resident luthier has installed a new, polished bone nut and the guitar received a re-fret at some point in the past. The neck pickup is original while the bridge pickup is an early 1980s Dirty Fingers probably installed not long after the guitar was purchased new. The pots and caps are original and we still have their metal shield cover although it is not installed in the cavity at present. Tuning pegs, bridge and tailpiece all appear to be bona fide.
Inside the control cavity, there is a partial loss of wood and one screw hole (photos upon request) along the edge from the stress of installing and removing the cover over the past 40 years. The rest of the screw holes are fine and the cover can be screwed down tight so this is a flaw only the owner of the guitar would be aware of.  There is evidence of a binding repair on the headstock and some binding separation on the side body near the pick guard (see photo) which is common and will not worsen. The back of the neck has experienced significant wear to the finish down to the wood which incidentally has made the neck feel super fast and smooth. There are scratches and dings throughout as to be expected from a guitar of this age.
The guitar sounds and feels fantastic, with a chunky c shaped neck, sustain for days and pickups that really bring the grind when you need it. This paired with an overdriven tube amp is a sound that's hard to beat! Someone obviously really loved playing this guitar, countless hours have spent making music with this instrument, something a relic job can only approximate cosmetically. This guitar was great to begin with but now it's an old soul with another lifetime of music to give.
