    Description

Vintage 1940's Disney Mickey Mouse Paper Mache Dayton Department Window Store Display
This wonderful vintage Mickey Mouse paper mache was produced and probably dating to the 40s/50s. Used as store or shop display.
Mickey has a red shirt, blue pants, yellow gloves and shows and his typical fun expression. This is an estate purchase and the previous owner had it in their collection for years.
Good condition for the age with only minimal wear and tear. Mostly around his face and mouth can you see some flaking wear. A few very minor stress cracks at his ears. Normal age wear from being part of a display in a shop window and handled.  Some rubs and crazing to paint. May need a light dusting but actually very nice.
Approx. height is 28" tall, from bottom of shoes to tip of ears. Approx. 14" wide and 11.5" deep.
The Dayton’s department store was central to the lives of Minnesotans in a way matched today probably only by its offspring, Target. And in the days before data breaches, smartphones, and streaming video, there was no beacon of the holidays like Dayton’s. Its downtown Minneapolis window displays were fairy-tale fantasias and toy-time wonderlands, along with the annually changing eighth-floor exhibits starting in 1963 that brought Santa, the Nutcracker, and an array of characters and folklore from Peter Pan to How the Grinch Stole Christmas to generations of children.
A very hard to find item and an exceptional find for a collector. Please look at the photos carefully as they are an important part of my description. Most of my pictures are taken with a magnifying lens giving me clear, close up photos. This tends to also magnify minor flaws on item which many times cannot be seen on actual item.I strive to describe all of my items as accurately and honestly as possible however as items are pre-owned and vintage in nature, minor scratches and wear is possible.
