Description
These pointy Barney Kessel guitars are wackier than a typical ES-175, but make just as good a player! This Ventura version is in very good shape, considering it's nearly 60 years old! Just some corrosion, a few dings and finish checks, but nothing structural or problematic.Originally, it was the "Standard" model, meaning no gold, but this one has had a bunch of upgrades that make it a sensational value that sounds great!
Two replacement Gibson 57 Classic humbuckers
New wiring harness, including pots, switch and jack
New "Imperial-style" tuners. (The original ones are included, and it's hard to believe that they could make gold plating that thin!)
New replacement "tune-o-matic"-style. (Not Gibson. I got it this way, and would probably gone with chrome, but whatever...)
The case seems (and smells) old enough to be the original. There are no markings, so I don't know the brand. And it needs some love. The back needs gluing, and the hardware is pretty corroded. But it's more than functional. I've gigged with it with no problem.
To be clear, it is NOT a Gibson product, nor am I presenting it as such. (Or asking that much!) But with the improvements, it sure sounds like one at a fraction of the price! And come on, it looks SOOO cool! Please give it a good home.
