Walt Disney Oct 1941 PHOTO New York Press Interview Photograph Dumbo Premiere
Historic Walt Disney Studio Auctions by Saturday's Toys presents...
a vintage Walt Disney photo archive print picturing Walt Disney as he is interviewed by several members of the press at a brief meeting following his return from South America in October 1941... as Walt and Lillian Disney prepared to attend the world premiere of Dumbo at the Broadway Theater in Manhattan (formerly known as the Colony Theatre... home of the 1928 debut of Mickey Mouse).
Here, in this rare vintage photograph, Walt is seen seated at his executive desk with the skyline of Manhattan as viewed from his office window.  The desk accessories have a classic 1940's metropolitan design. The elegant décor and fine furnishings are consistent with a movie mogul in the prime of his life... only hours before he introduces his newest animated feature film, Dumbo, followed the next year by the spectacular success of "Bambi" at Radio City Music Hall.
Unknown to all at the time, the photo was taken only weeks before the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor and America's entry into WWII.
Linen-backed photo is perfectly preserved; with two-hole punch a left margin.  As originally purchased in the 1980's at the Hollywood Collector's Bookstore at Hollywood & Vine.
    Very good condition; 8.5" x 10"
Our final offering of images from this historic 1941 meeting with Walt Disney.

    Saturday’s Toys and Disneyana Auctions
was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and Disney historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first Disneyana specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 10,000 coveted Disney treasures since then, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers, collectors and friends throughout the world with a shared interest in the preservation of authentic and accurate Disney history.
Today, online offerings of archival Disneyana keepsakes are presented in celebration of the extended times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately known as "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a tip of the cap to the Sherman Brothers):
"Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
